We want to know where to look to observe a particular phenomenon like the Geminid Meteor shower.

Let’s start with determining why we want something to help us with our night sky navigation. Some scenarios to consider include: Why Do We Want Something Besides our Eyes? We’ll make the case for a paper (or plastic) planisphere in a moment. But ultimately we find the good old fashioned planisphere to be the most effective for most of what we want to do. In fact we DO use several apps for forecasting and navigating the night sky. We take exception to the “there is an app for that” assertion… but perhaps not for the obvious reason. Whenever we suggest purchasing a paper Planisphere our critics remind us that they are not necessary because “there is a great app” to do that. Now scroll all the way to the bottom, and tap System Services: On your iPhone / iPad, open up iOS Settings and tap Privacy: This setting is enabled by default, so it's rare that someone would disabl e it, but nevertheless, if it happens, here's how to fix it: While using Gaia GPS, if the main map does not rotate while using Course Up mode, check to see if your compass calibration within System Service is being denied access to Location Services. Compass calibration will be complete once all of the trick marks are illuminated. Each tick mark in the circle will be illuminated as the ball passes by. To calibrate the compass, rotate your device in a full circle slowly moving the red ball around in a circle. If you cancel the compass calibration, however, the compass won't work well. To stop this warning from appearing, you can turn off 'compass warning' in the Gaia GPS settings menu. If the compass calibration screen appears while using Gaia GPS, it means that your device has determined that the compass needs to be calibrated.
